Certificate in Generic Manufacturing Skills (Integration) – Integrated Assessment Pathway (IAP)

Synopsis:

Certificate in Generic Manufacturing Skills (Integration) is designed and developed as Integrated Assessment Pathway (IAP) where foreign workers, with prior knowledge and skills, is assessed for competency on the five modules. It is also a faster route for Skills Upgrading with a nationally recognised qualification.

On the completion of IAP, only foreign workers in the Manufacturing sector are eligible to upgrade their current R2 Work Permit to R1 Work Permit.

    Course Objective:

    On completion of this course, participants will be able to:
    • Carry out “5S” procedures in the work area to maintain the standards and discipline as part of continuous improvement processes
    • Apply quality procedures when carrying out daily work to meet quality system requirements as well as maintaining and improving work quality
    • Work as a team and participate in team activities in their work area
    • Execute tasks using hand tools and equipment correctly
    • Perform the measurement tasks accurately by operating the electrical measurement devices correctly

    This course will cover:
    1. Continuous Process Improvement (PRE-PIN-1006-1.1)
    • Workplace Housekeeping & 5S Concept
    • 5S Methodology
    • Achieve Continuous Improvement Process through 5S implementation
    2. Quality System Management (PRE-QUA-2007-1.1 )
    • Plan and carry out daily work to meet quality system requirements
    • Maintain work quality
    • Improve work quality
    3. Apply Teamwork in the Workplace (WPH-PIW-1101-1.1 )
    • Participate in setting up an effective team and its culture
    • Communication in a team
    • Improve team performance
    4. Use Basic Hand Tools and Equipment (GMS-INT-1101-1.1)
    • Work Instructions
    • Prepare and use hand tools, equipment and materials to perform task
    • Maintaining hand tools and equipment after use
    5. Operate Electrical Measurement Devices (GMS-INT-1102-1.1)
    • Work Instructions
    • Prepare and use hand tools, equipment and materials to perform electrical measurement task
    • Maintaining electrical measurement equipment after use

    For Whom:

    Suitable for foreign workers at the operational level who are new hires in the manufacturing sector, as well as fresh graduates.

    Entry Requirements:

    Candidates are assumed to:
    • Should have basic knowledge of maths and statistics;
    • Be able to listen, read and write English at a proficiency level equivalent Workplace Literacy (WPL) Level 3 Higher Beginning (PSLE) and above; and
    • Be able to manipulate numbers at a proficiency level equivalent to Workplace Numeracy (WPN) Level 3 Higher Beginning (PSLE) and above.

    Apply Teamwork in the Workplace (WPH-PIW-1101-1.1)

    • Explain effective teamwork in the workplace
    • Apply effective communication skills in a team
    • Analyse and evaluate on team effectiveness for implementing improvement activities

    Continuous Process Improvement (PRE-PIN-1006-1.1)

    • Explain effective housekeeping at workplace
    • Explain the origins of 5S and the planning for 5S
    • Describe and demonstrate the 1st S (SEIRI) at workplace
    • Describe and demon-strate the 2nd S (SEISO) at workplace
    • Describe and demonstrate the 3rd S (SEITON) at workplace
    • Describe and demonstrate the 4th S (SEIKETSU) at workplace
    • Describe and demonstrate the 5th S (SHITSUKE) at workplace
    • Explain the benefits of 5S program in Continuous Improvement Process

    Quality System Management (PRE-QUA-2007-1.1)

    • Explain organisational quality systems, procedures and policies
    • Apply appropriate procedures for maintaining work quality
    • Apply appropriate procedures for quality improvement

    Use Basic Hand Tools & Equipment (GMS-INT-1101-1.1-E)

    A full qualification of Certificate in Generic Manufacturing Skills (MF-CRT-02-1) will be awarded to successful candidates upon completing and passing all the five modules’ assessments.
