Progressive Practical English

English is commonly used in the working environment today. Knowledge of English will allow two-way communication to be much easier and instructions to be carried out more accurately and effectively. This will avert costly mistakes in production due to misunderstanding and misinterpreting instructions.

The Progressive Practical English is designed for participants to improve the quality of their English conversation skills and basic understanding of English by providing some basic concepts of the English language and allowing the participants to practice what they have learned, including writing of simple messages.

 

Course Objective

To develop communication competence by acquiring the ability to understand and to speak and write in English which is not only correct but also appropriate in situations in which it is used.

This programme consists of 3 levels. Each level comprises of the following sections :  

  1. Language Function
  2. Grammar & Usage
  3. Comprehension
  4. Wordlist
  5. Completing Forms
  6. Games and Activities

Level 1 is the basic level which focuses on Spoken English at Primary 3 to 4 standard. It is for entrants who are weak in both spoken and written English.

Level 2 is an intermediate level which focuses on spoken English and Grammar at Primary 5 to 6 standard. Entrants at this level are slightly proficient in spoken English but weak in written English.

Level 3 focuses on written English at approximately Secondary 1 standard. It is for participants who need to improve on written English.

A Pre-course Test will be conducted to assess the course level that the participants should take. The 1-hour Pre-Course test is structured to allow identification and streaming. Upon completing one level, both written and oral tests will be conducted before proceeding to the next level. A minimum 75% attendance must be attained before the participant can take the tests.  

 

For Whom Production Operators.
Duration 30 hours for each level of the programme.
Certification

 

A Certificate of Proficiency will be awarded to trainees upon completing and passing both Oral and Written Tests at each level of the programme. Otherwise, a Certificate of Participation will be issued to those who attained a minimum attendance of 75% for that level of the programme.
