This course is specially developed to improve knowledge and upgrade skills of foreign workers employed by electronics companies in Singapore.

It is conducted in 2 formats, 120 hours and 180 hours. The 120 hours course is for foreign workers who already have attended some courses/education in electronics theory. The course will concentrate more on the practical aspects to improve the proficiency in circuit construction and troubleshooting.

The 180 hours course is developed for those foreign workers who may not have attended electronics courses before. This course provides some extended time to teach basic electronics theory for those who are very weak in it.

Course Objective

To prepare foreign workers to acquire some basic knowledge of electronics and to be more proficient in practical skills.

Course Outline

Practical

1) General Troubleshooting Techniques:
    - Component values and types
    - Standard electronic symbols
    - Schematic diagrams
    - Correct use of equipment : multimeter, oscilloscope, frequency generator and frequency

counter

2) Trouble-shooting techniques with specific equipment

3) Project construction on single-sided prototyping board

Theory

Summary on theories and practice questions on Electronics Principles, Circuit and Applications.

For Whom

Foreign employees with prior electronics education at their own country, such as Vocational or High School Certificates in Electronics.

Duration

120 hours or 180 hours.

Language of Instruction

This programme can be conducted in ENGLISH or MANDARIN.

Certification

Participants are to register to sit for the SET Level 1. Upon passing the test, they will be awarded ITE's SET Level 1 in Electronics statement of result.
