Workplace English for Foreign Workers (Advanced)

English is commonly used in the working environment today. Knowledge of English will allow two-way communication to be much easier and instructions to be carried out more accurately and effectively. This will avert costly mistakes in production due to misunderstanding and misinterpreting instructions.

This course is designed for participants to improve the quality of their English conversational skills and understanding of English by providing some basic concepts of the English language and allowing the participants to practice what they have learned, including writing of simple messages.

 

 

Course Objective

This level focuses on written English at approximately Secondary standard. It is for entrants who need to improve on written English, simple presentations and instructional skills.

 

Upon completion of training at this level, trainees should be confident and competent to speak English. They should be able to write simple memos, reports, emails and complete basic forms. They should also be able to give simple presentations or work instructions.

Topics involving:-

1.   Language Structure

  • Grammar usage

  • Vocabulary

  • Composition

2.   Speaking

  • Give instructions / directions

  • Receive and deliver messages

  • Express preferences and thoughts

3.   Writing

  • Write simple memo / report / email

4.   Tests

  • Oral and written

  • Listening skills

  • Presentation

Non-compulsory pre-course test is available upon request at $40.00* per participant.

Certification

A Certificate will be awarded to trainees upon completing and passing oral, written and listening skills tests. Otherwise, a Certificate of Participation will be issued to trainees who attained a minimum attendance of 75%.
