Objectives
|
a) Provide basic training in electronic principles and practices.
These include knowledge of components, use of instruments and
constructing and testing of circuits.
b) Provide training in installing, maintaining and repairing common
digital and microprocessor.

This
programme can be conducted in either English or Mandarin.

Every
January and July (for public exams), or at other times based on the
schedule of the company for customized training.

Entry
Requirements
|
- 3 'N' (Grades 1-5) passes in Maths and two other subjects; or
- 2 'O' (Grades 1-8) in any 2 subjects; or
- Based on the 'Accreditation of Prior Learning' guide of ITE for
holders of other qualifications; or
- WDA
Employability Skills System level with L5 in Literacy (Reading), L5 in
Literacy (Listening) and L5 in Numeracy; or
- Entrance test conducted by ITE.

Eligibility
to sit for Module Examinations
|
A
student must achieve at least 75% of the total possible
attendance in that module in order to be eligible for the end of module
examination. Medical leave and approved absence are not
counted against a student when the attendance requirement is
computed.

|
Certification
|
The MOST
courses are conducted on a credit system of training. In the credit
system, a course of study is structured into a series of modules and
credit units are assigned to each module. A student can enroll for the
modules sequentially or according to his training needs. Once a student
passes the module, the credit units assigned to the module is credited
to him.

|
Award
of Certificate
|
A
module certificate would be awarded for module(s) of a Nitec in Electronics
course that a student has passed in an examination series.
The full Nitec certificate will be awarded when a student has passed all
8 modules in the course of study. The time frame
to acquire the full Nitec certificate is 6 years from the date of
the first examination at the Nitec level.
Those who have passed 4 modules will be awarded the Nitec
(Intermediate) in Electronics.
